Kokoda Memorial Arch at Ower’s Corner PNG. The arch weighs 11 tonnes and measures 15 metre long by 6 metres high. On the top of the Arch is the Rising Sun emblem. The six uprights represent the six States of the Commonwealth and each State has a plaque listing the units that served in the Kokoda campaign from that State. The verticals represent the link between the National people of PNG and the Australian soldiers.  The shape confirms to the mountainous horizon beyond.

The Arch was designed by Ross Bastiaan and constructed under the supervision of Eric Winn with 16 Australian tradesmen. All labour and materials were donated to the project. No Government help was sort.
